Mobile software products firm Mandalay Digital will be moving into town.

This isn't the only big change the company has made recently, after announcing re-branding efforts as Digital Turbine Inc. CEO Bill Stone will join the board of directors, according to the company release.

The company acquired Appia, a leading app-install platform from Durham, back in November.

"Together, we are working to complete the acquisition of Appia, which will create a single, unique, and agnostic mobile app and advertising ecosystem that allows carriers to generate new revenue streams and allows us to capitalize on a large and fast-expanding marketplace.  We expect the transaction to close during the fourth quarter of fiscal 2015, subject to customary conditions, including the registration statement being declared effective by Securities and Exchange Commission and shareholder consent," Stone said in an earlier statement.

Mandalay Digital Group was founded in 1998 and has been operating in Los Angeles. Mandalay has gained a reputation for its forward-thinking mobile acquisitions. In 2010, it acquired Twistbox, which at the time provided the industry's most widely adopted content standards matrix. Mandalay absorbed Digital Turbine in 2011 and will now be operating under the new name.
