More Austinites get Google Fiber

Residents in East Riverside, East Oltorf, Montopolis and Dove Springs were able to start signing up for Google Fiber service this week. If enough people in the neighborhoods sign up, Google will complete the construction process. After that, residents can schedule installation. Malauzai Software raises $11M Series D

Austin-based Malauzai Software, which provides SmartApps for end users to access banking and customer service features from portable devices, has raised an $11 million Series D, according to an SEC filing. 
 

Sailpoint makes acquisition

Suzanne Kho joins ATC

The Austin Technology Council has hired Suzanne Kho as its executive director of the ATC Foundation. In that role, Kho will oversee partnerships and programs in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.. New VC fund in Austin

An Austin Ventures LP executive has led the creation of a $5.3 million venture capital fund just five months after revealing the firm’s plan to raise such funds for individual investments instead of a large conventional VC fund. Techstars Austin grad Self Lender raises $1.5M seed round

Capital Factory investing in the space industry

Firefly Space Systems is the latest company to join the Capital Factory Accelerator, capturing an investment from the accerlerator as well. This is the first involvement Capital Factory has had with the space industry, Executive Director Josh Baer wrote in a blog post, and he realizes that Firely isn't the type of company that would normally want to use their services. A new study has some pretty convincing evidence that employing remotely might be worth considering. The study, which surveyed 202 employees over a range of occupations, found that 32% of employees already work at least part-time from somewhere other than the office. A whopping 77% of respondents reported being more productive when they were working away from the office, and another 30% said they accomplished more in less time.
