Mozido expands to Africa

Austin-based Mozido has acquired NettCash, a Zimbabwe company developing mobile wallet software. Financial details were not disclosed. Austin Instacart contractors becoming employees

Grocery delivery service Instacart is planning to convert its contract workers to part-time employees, the company said this week. Social Sessions launches Kickstarter

Social Sessions, a for-purpose project that connects live music and charities beyond
the stage to create a community centered around positive change, has launched their Kickstarter. The Social Sessions team wants to be the platform for Austin’s live music artists to connect with charities they are passionate about in order raise awareness and money 
through pop-up benefit nights.

New program for Austin businesses

The City of Austin has launched a program to let businesses in distinct sections of the city work together to shape the direction of their neighborhoods. The Soul-y Austin Business District Incubator is a pilot project from the city’s economic development department designed to help businesses form merchant associations in four neighborhoods. Techstars Cloud accepting applications

The Techstars Cloud program, which begins Nov. 2nd and runs through Feb. 11th is accepting applications. The program provides each startup with $18,000 in funding for a 6 percent stake in the company and access to $100,000 convertible note. Visa Equity Partners raises new capital

Investor Vista Equity Partners has raised new capital from New York for an expansion. The undisclosed amount will be used to expand their network of global investors and grow the business.
