September is rolling into town. With Labor Day right around the corner, many of Austin’s hardest working tech geeks have already started the countdown to the three day weekend. For many of us, Labor Day will be the summer’s last big hurrah. But the fun need not wait for Friday. Here are 5 events in Austin for entrepreneurs and techies to get the Labor Day celebrations started early.

1. From Wearables to Cyborgs: The Present and Future Uses & Impacts of ‘Personal Tech’, Sept. 1 at 6 p.m.

Wearables can transform health and safety, simplify communications, revolutionize e-payments, and more. Can technology implanted in humans go even further? Attend this event to find out.

2. Startup Grind Austin Hosts Travis Oliphant (Continuum Analytics), Sept. 1 at 6:30 p.m.

As CEO of Continuum Analytics, Travis engages customers in finance, consumer products, and oil and gas, develops business strategy, and helps guide technical direction of the company. He actively contributes to software development and engages with the wider open source community in the Python ecosystem by serving as a director of the Python Software Foundation and past director of Numfocus.

3. How to Create a Compelling Positioning for Your Startup, Sept. 2 at 6 p.m.

Positioning is the most important strategy decision you can make for your startup.   When properly defined, your positioning gives you team a clear focus and guides your product development, marketing and sales.   Without a clear positioning, your startup is like dust in the wind, going in whatever direction the winds of the moment take you, and this, most certainly, leads to failure. Join to learn what positioning is, the steps to develop a clear and powerful positioning and then be ready to apply the concepts in beginning to draft positioning for your startup.

4. Meet + hire UX designers, Sept. 2 at 2 p.m.

Looking for new teammates to help you analyze problems and create effective designs that better engage customers? Come meet Austin's first cohort of talented & creative graduates of GA's User Experience Design Immersive course at the Austin Chamber of Commerce.

5. SXSWi 2016 Food Panels, Sept. 4 at 7 a.m.

If you are a member of Food + Tech Austin, we want to highlight your SXSWi panels here. Vote for the panels being put together.

Have an amazing week Austin and make sure to check out our events calendar for all the other tech events happening around town.
