Know you could be doing more, but stuck in a job that's going nowhere? Life's too short to settle for mediocrity. Austin's tech scene is booming, and companies are hungry for ambitious, hardworking, creative talent. If you're looking to spend your days doing something other than surreptitiously watching YouTube videos in a cubicle, here are four of Austin's tech companies hiring right now.

What they do: Main Street Hub’s full-service, “Do-It-For-You” marketing platform integrates social media, customer reviews, mobile, and email marketing to help local businesses attract and retain more customers efficiently and effectively.

Why you want to work there: Founded in 2010, Main Street Hub has grown from a team of 3 to 500 with offices in both Austin and New York. They're backed by leading investors and have been named one of the fastest growing private companies in the U.S. by Inc. Magazine in 2014 and 2015, the fastest growing startup in Austin by the Austin Business Journal, and a 2015 Top Workplace by the Austin American-Statesman.

Best perks: Three weeks paid time off, 100 percent paid medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees, and 50 percent of premiums paid for dependents, fully-stocked kitchens and craft beer on tap.

Insider tip: "We hire for a variety of roles here at Main Street Hub, and one common trait we look for across all departments are individuals who identify with our values and our mission of serving local businesses and supporting local economies. When candidates have a passion for our mission, product, and what we are building, it really shows in their performance and they rise to the top." — David Schreiber, Senior Manager, Recruiting

What they do: HomeAway is a leading marketplace for the vacation rental industry, with sites representing over one million paid listings of vacation rental homes in 190 countries.

Why you want to work there: The established company is located in downtown Austin with a great proximity to restaurants, bars and retail. And they're working to transform the travel industry. Pretty cool, right?

Best perks: 4 weeks paid vacation, plus 10 paid holidays, free vacation rental stay per year, ability to work up to two weeks per year in any of their 20+ offices around the world and free drinks and snacks.

Insider tip: “We believe coworkers can also be like family. That’s why we don’t just hire for talent and experience – we hire authentic people who look forward to coming to work each day to help travelers enjoy unforgettable vacations together.” — Kimberly Eyhorn, Director of Global Recruiting

What they do: CreditCards.com is a free online resource where consumers can compare hundreds of credit card offers by category, including low interest credit cards, credit cards with rewards programs, airline credit cards, cash back credit cards, small business credit cards, student credit cards, instant approval credit cards as well as prepaid debit cards.

Why you want to work there: You'd be helping people save money by making smart financial decisions. Can't beat that.

Best perks: Full medical, dental, vision, life, and AD&D benefits, a 401k, generous vacation policy and free food, coffee and drinks.

Insider Tip: "While the company is ever expanding, we maintain a culture where each employee’s contribution is impactful and valued as an integral part of working towards our goals as the leading online credit card marketplace. CreditCards.com wants to attract people who are really interested in what’s next, and are interested in shaping it. People who will keep asking what the best way is to do something -—not how it’s been done in the past, not how it’s being done now, not what the easiest way to do it is. People who combine a strong work ethic with a great sense of fun. We’re here to work together to be the best, and have fun doing it!" — Heather James, Talent Acquisition

What they do: Shopgate helps online retailers succeed at mobile. Their SaaS enables online stores to easily create, maintain and optimize native apps and mobile websites.

Why you want to work there: This established company operates like a startup, with lots of creative leeway and collaboration.

Best perks: 28 days vacation, flextime, subsidized meals, an international environment (they have offices across the globe!) and a company pension.

Insider tip: "At Shopgate, we create mobile apps that change the way retailers and consumers interact. We’re looking for people who share the same passion for creating remarkable mobile experiences."
