ResponsibilitiesYour day-to-day (as a Spiceworks Accountant, you’ll):
- Perform monthly/quarterly general ledger reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
- Prepare month-end journal entries and account reconciliations
- Ensure the accuracy of revenue recognized each month
- Perform monthly audits of sales orders for proper revenue recognition, data entry, and billing accuracy
- Establish controls necessary to ensure that revenue accounting execution is compliant with company policy and GAAP
- Monitor customer accounts for non-payments, delayed payments, and other irregularities
- Promptly investigate and resolve customer (internal and external) queries
- Participate in critical accounting projects including internal reporting and audit readiness
- Support ongoing external reporting requirements as necessary
- Engage in significant interface and collaboration with the sales and delivery teams
- Take on additional accounting tasks as needed
- Dive into ad hoc projects as needed
What does it take to do this job?
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- 3+ years accounting related experience
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Comfort with complex reconciliations and handling large amounts of data
- Self-motivated, fast learner, with excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
- Tech-savvy
- Fluency with Excel, Word, Outlook and Adobe
- Intacct experience a plus
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude
- Trustworthy and discreet with confidential financial and employee data
- Willingness to establish and maintain effective working relationships
