Assistant Controller

Accruent is looking for an Assistant Controller that can lead the accounting team and be a part of a dynamic environment that is growing and expanding. The Assistant Controller is responsible for the day-to-day management of the company’s worldwide accounting operations and management of a team of 6 or more. Applicant must be a self-starter, adaptive, demonstrate the ability to work independently and on a team, possess strong analytical skills, maintain a penchant for efficiency with accuracy, possess strong communication skills, and operate well within a fast-paced environment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITILES

  • Prepare and review journal entries, maintain overall accuracy and integrity of the general ledger, and ensure financial statements are GAAP compliant
  • Oversee month-end close process of multiple entities, including international entities in foreign currencies
  • Ensure proper internal controls are implemented and maintained
  • Manage vendor relationships and ensure proper processing and payment of vendor bills
  • Manage accounts receivable aging and ensure timely collection of payments.
  • Ensure all revenue related contracts are recognized in accordance with US GAAP
  • Assist in the building, implementing and adherence of corporate accounting policies and procedures
  • Perform and document technical accounting research on complex accounting issues
  • Supervise, develop, and mentor accounting staff
  • Support M&A/Corporate Development on acquisition evaluation, due diligence activities of new businesses
  • Lead acquisition accounting activities and integration, including international acquisitions
  • Facilitate training for US and global teams, including finance/accounting teams of recently acquired entities, on effective internal control procedures, US GAAP accounting standards and relevant company accounting policies

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Strong process knowledge & process improvement experience
  • High energy - can motivate, lead, and develop teams
  • Ability to provide leadership in a fast-paced growing environment
  • Advanced analytical problem solving skills
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with multi-company and multi-currency environment
  • Understanding of international accounting, including multi-currency translations
  • Drive process improvement and efficiencies including systems (Intacct, Salesforce)

DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years of experience in accounting and financial management
  • 2+ years of managerial experience
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Accounting and/or Finance
  • CPA preferred
  • Experience in top tier public accounting preferred 
  • Strong technical accounting skills
  • Knowledge of Salesforce, Financial Force and Intacct a plus
  • Proficient computer skills, specifically with accounting systems, MS Excel, and other MS Office applications
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail and accuracy
