Job Summary:

Phunware is looking for a Big Data QA Engineer in Newport Beach, CA to support our rapidly growing Big Data team from a QA perspective.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience with automated test development, experience with big data technologies, and the ability to self direct and work proactively.

Responsibilities:

• Create test suites and execute as per project schedules. Report test progress, concerns, and results to QA Manager and project stakeholders.
  
• Document data needs for environments and scenarios for end-to-end integration testing.
  
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross functional teams such as development, project management and IT Operations.

• BS or MS degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
  
• 2 years of practical Big Data experience
  
• Minimum 2 years of experience in three or more of these technologies: Hadoop / Kafka / Spark / Elastic Search / HBase
  
• UNIX/Linux command skills - Command line prompts, parse, awk
  
• API based testing using postman (preferred) or other alternative tools like curl
  
• Familiar with BigData concepts and/or Distributed Computing
  
• Proven ability to write Map-Reduce jobs
  
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work with offsite teams
  
• Must be local or willing to relocate 

• Worked in real-time streaming technologies
  
• Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment, start up experience preferred.
  
• Certificates in any of the technologies above
  
• Experience testing cloud-based micro services
  
• Knowledge of R programming
