Named as one of the Top 50 Start-Ups by Built In Austin, Skills Fund is a student financing platform that is on a mission to revolutionize higher education by aligning incentives around student success and facilitating access to high-quality, innovative education. How? First, we evaluate the quality and student outcomes of skills-based accelerated learning programs (think coding, data science, cyber security bootcamps). Second, programs that meet our quality standards obtain access to our competitive financing products for their students.

Now we are looking for an up-and-comer to join our world-class team.

What is the opportunity?

• We are seeking a Business Development Associate to be on the front line of supporting our rapid growth, including research and onboarding of new partnerships, analyzing new products, market development opportunities, and managing partner relationships.
• This is a strategic thinking role that will include exposure to all functional departments at Skills Fund (marketing, lending operations, legal) and will require thinking creatively to find solutions to problems and identifying opportunities that will help to drive growth.
• Specific functions will include (i) managing the new partnership pipeline, CRM and related dashboards, (ii) communicating directly with existing and new target partners to improve relationships and identify growth opportunities, (iii) working cross-functionally within Skills Fund to communicate partner feedback and suggestions, new product opportunities and other growth and development needs.
• This role will be a part of our Growth Team and report directly to the Director of Business Development.

What does it take to succeed?

• A Learner’s Mindset: Desire to learn and adapt in a rapidly growing and changing start-up environment.
• Interest in Finance and Education: You should have an understanding of and interest in personal finance, credit and fixing higher education.
• Attitude: Positive, tenacious, curious, fun, inviting, warm. No BS. Zero office politics.
• Qualities: Tenacious and hungry. Does not take “no” for an answer. Exceptional ability to prioritize and focus, and understand the big-picture implications of seemingly routine tasks.  Quick learner with the ability to execute following instruction. Not intimidated by getting thrown into the deep end (or anything else for that matter).
• Skills:  Critical thinker, highly organized, detail-oriented, strong written and oral communication skills, ability to identify opportunities and find a way to get things across the finish line; experience preparing PowerPoint decks is a plus.
• Fun: Must know it, have it, and be able to inspire it.
