You’re not just a copywriter, although you can write a mean piece of branded content. You’re also a multimedia storyteller, a voice-and-tone virtuoso, and a seasoned conceptual thinker who can jump into a fast-moving team to iterate – and then do it again as you test, learn, and get customer feedback.
 
If this sounds remotely close to how you’d like to work, then we’d love to find you a home at HomeAway. Our world-class Global Experience Design group is seeking a copywriter/content designer for our Product Content and Video division. In this role, you’ll be conceptualizing and creating original content (video scripts, articles, blog posts, and more) for both sides of our business: the owners who make their vacation homes available through HomeAway, and the travelers who use us to escape and unwind.
 
If you’re eager to jump in, we’ve got a suite of existing projects that need your love. But we also need your help shaping our products’ content strategy – to learn what makes us special, to understand how customers think and feel about us, and to activate the HomeAway voice through standards you’ll help set.
 
On any given day, you’ll:
  • Collaborate with your directors and fellow designers to brainstorm concepts, scripts, storylines, articles, blog posts, and more.
  • Write useful, interesting, and engaging copy with limited editorial oversight
  • Frame your decisions around data and insights from user research, analytics, and iterative testing.
  • Collaborate and build rapport with product management, product and brand marketing, and other stakeholders.
  • Contribute ideas and themes to the product marketing editorial calendar.
  • Help us pitch new projects while chipping away at a backlog of promised works
  • Have fun working in our awesome new design studio.
At a minimum, you should:
  • Have a bachelor’s degree or higher in one or more humanities disciplines (creative writing, journalism, advertising, etc.).
  • Have experience creating customer-facing content for a large, global brand.
  • Have a body of work that demonstrates hands-on experience with video, product marketing, branded storytelling, and related content.
  • Instinctively get what we mean when we talk about a product’s “tone of voice.”
  • Work creatively without client briefs – and, in many ways, write the “brief” as you go. (This isn’t traditional agency copywriting.)
