What You'll Do:

If you're the right person for the job, you'll be joining the growing DevTools team within HomeAway's ever-expanding Development Infrastructure environment. As a DevTools leader, you'll continue to drive HomeAway's culture of engineering empowerment by optimizing product delivery by automating the entire software delivery pipeline and building the tools necessary to enable horizontal scaling, provisioning, graphing, monitoring, and rapid deployment on our bare-metal, public, and private cloud environments. You'll coordinate and streamline the development efforts of your team but never be afraid to roll up your sleeves and hammer out a prototype, bug fix, or new feature yourself.

As a DevTools leader, you'll be driving HomeAway's engineering culture by building, evangelizing, and supporting the continuous delivery pipeline used by HomeAway software engineers worldwide. Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and optimize the development efforts of HomeAway's DevTools team
- Guide the team towards accomplishing quantifiable objectives with a data-driven methodology
- Ensure delivery of quality upkeep and training on HomeAway's software delivery platform
- Prototype, architect, and oversee implementation of platform updates and new features
- Work with our internal business partners and customers to gather requirements
- Perform peer reviews and code walk-throughs

Requirements:
- Management experience in the software development or infrastructure space
- Management experience with agile development processes
- Development experience with Java Web Applications, Service-Oriented Architecture, and Micro-Services
- Development experience with Docker
- Hands-on experience with at least one continuous integration platform (Jenkins, TeamCity, QuickBuild, Drone, etc)
- Hands-on experience with at least one cloud-computing platform (Mesos, AWS, Azure, VMWare, etc)
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively through an agile development process that promotes constant team communication
- Excellent communication skills to assist in conducting user interviews, requirement-gathering, and design reviews

Additional Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience managing a DevTools, DevOps, or CD pipeline team
- Hands-on experience with system administration & configuration tool(s) (Puppet, Chef, Foreman, SaltStack, etc)
- Hands-on experience with logging/eventing platform(s) (Splunk, Kafka, etc)
- Hands-on Experience with node.js and/or JavaScript frameworks (Backbone, Angular, etc)
- Familiarity with the Ruby, Go, or Scala languages
- Having committed to open-source projects - provide a GitHub/GitLab/BitBucket/etc link if appropriate
