Director of Engineering

This role is based in Austin, Texas.

The day to day:

People

  • Recruit and retain team members 
  • Create a consistent and effective on-boarding experience
  • Participate in recruiting events
  • Lead skills assessments and on-site interviews for qualified candidates
  • Mentor direct reports on creating an action plan for growth and advancement opportunities
  • Mentor junior consultants to enhance their general consulting, communication, and leadership skills
  • Coach and mentor team members 
  • Apply a consistent methodology to recommending team members for promotion or advancement on a quarterly basis
  • Participate in the interview and recruiting process

Culture

  • Lead new company culture initiatives
  • Cultivate a scalable baseline Headspring cultural experience across offices
  • Manage and hire to align with the Headspring Core Values
  • Hold all team members accountable to exemplifying the Headspring Core Values

Operations

  • Take on company initiatives that make Headspring better at project execution and delivery for enterprise clients
  • Review project level efficiency and provide guidance to team members and senior management on where it can be improved
  • Maintain a pulse of projects and provide key insights on opportunities of growth and development for team members 
  • Work with client service leads and tech leads on team member project performance issues
  • Ensure proper staffing and skills on all projects
  • Take on different roles as necessary for client projects, spending up to 50% billing

Strategy

  • Executes on strategic office initiatives

To qualify you will need:

  • References to your accomplishments as a software developer
  • 7+ years experience related to Software Development
  • Software Consulting experience
  • Mentored other team members
  • Strong communication, documentation and presentation skills

  • Successfully mentor team members
  • Effectively hire new team members
