Job Description -  Director Global Learning and Employee Development

The Director Learning and Development will be responsible for managing the end-to-end learning and development activities for the organization by delivering experiences that honor the latest understanding of adult learning science and related technology. This position could be located in either Austin, TX or Alpharetta, GA. 

This position will develop and implement training programs to support key People & Business initiatives. The successful candidate will have a passion for learning and be skilled at designing and delivering a variety of training programs - classroom training, coaching, active learning, and eLearning.

This person will work with employees and HR to understand business goals and identify problems that may be effectively addressed through training initiatives.

This is a new initiative for HotSchedules and an opportunity to provide expertise and build a key program that will support team members and improve performance across the company.

Responsibilities:

  • Learning Strategy
    • Lead the direction that both incubates new learning experiences and optimizes existing programs, leveraging the latest in adult learning best practices
    • Create a go-to-market plan, including messaging, to educate and inspire the 600 employees (our customers) with awareness and understanding of our portfolio
    • Regularly engage externally to bring best practices inside and stay at the forefront of the industry
    • Deliver outcomes based on key success metrics (and targets) at program and portfolio level
    • Develops robust talent management plans and drives culture change initiatives to attract, retain, develop, and engage talent in critical roles.
    • Identify key engagement drivers and develop the supporting strategies to align people, processes, and work-related systems in order to achieve meaningful levels of job satisfaction and retention for employees.
    • Identify key trends and collaborate with the HR team to provide prescriptive recommendations and solutions.
  • Training Design & Implementation
    • Partner across the company in service of delivering a delightful, integrated employee experience
    • Partner with the HR team and businesses to understand their needs and best leverage our portfolio for impact
    • Work with leaders within client groups to understand core capabilities needed to drive business results, and translate into actionable developmental programs for functional teams.
    • Design, deliver and develop high quality, effective learning solutions to address identified needs, gaps, and development opportunities across all levels within the organization.
    • Assess, design and help drive broad initiatives to support a culture of learning across the organization
  • Coaching & Just-in-time Support
    • Provide ongoing support to business leaders by serving as "sounding board" in both a business and people-related capacity.
    • Utilize high-level consulting skills to influence, coach and provide feedback to employees at all levels.
    • Provide feedback and insights about organizational development, structure and proactively predict outcomes/prescribe actions to ensure smooth operations
    • Partner with business groups to focus on building the Company’s culture, including team development, conflict resolution and fostering an environment of open feedback and communication.
    • Support the administrative and technical aspects of the LMS platform & content providers and help our team members to have a positive experience with our LMS platform
    • Maintain student records and track usage and other metrics for management review - provide regular reporting on KPIs
  • Leadership Development
    • Design & deliver programs, fostering an environment of ethical and servant leadership philosophies.
    • Strong focus on change management, partnering closely with business leaders to develop consistent strategies and tactics to help leaders manage change.

Necessary Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management (or related field) is required; qualified coaching certification a plus.
  • Minimum of 7 year’s progressive human resources experience including organizational effectiveness/change management, learning & development, and talent management.
  • Proven experience developing and implementing learning and development initiatives across all levels of an organization including senior leadership, mid-level managers, new managers and broad employee groups.
  • Strong business acumen; understands the key financial drivers and dynamics related to growth and commercialization.
  • Proven experience in development and implementation of HR initiatives, particularly learning and development focused programs, is required
  • Proven customer-centric focus with the ability to influence culture and create alignment between business goals, behaviors, and compensation systems that drive performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and establish rapport with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong team player that has a customer service approach and is solution oriented.
  • Fueled by intellectual curiosity and courage
  • Must thrive working in a fast-paced, innovative environment while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to develop important relationships with key stakeholders, good conflict management, and negotiation skills, ability to analyze complex issues to develop relevant and realistic plans, programs and recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate strategy into action; excellent analytical skills and an ability to communicate complex issues in a simple way and to orchestrate plans to resolve issues and mitigate risks.
