HomeAway is seeking a Financial Analyst - Payments to provide financial analysis, modeling and decision support for its growing e-commerce merchant business. This role will be part of the commercial finance team located at the headquarters in Austin, Texas and report to the Sr. Finance Manager - Payments. Commercial finance’s charge is to provide for a common language and data driven hypotheses, which can be validated through a test and learn approach to enable actionable analytical insights, influencing faster and better business decisions.

The Financial Analyst – Payments will partner closely with HomeAway’s global commercial and product teams and will be accountable for providing sound analysis and financial insights for the e-commerce merchant business. Analytical focus areas include pricing, vendor management, economics for all pay-in and pay-out merchant services and operations such as fraud and processing costs. The individual in this role is expected to understand all financial aspects of our merchant business in granular detail. The ideal candidate will also have experience with financial modeling for new or high-growth businesses, demonstrate an aptitude for learning and display knowledge of e-commerce payments systems.

To be successful in this role, the incumbent must be exceptionally strong at data combination and predictive modeling, continuous improvement and best practice implementation, building cross-functional expertise and influencing.

The Role & Expectations:- Business at HomeAway moves at a fast pace, requiring agility, calm and focus under pressure and the capability to prioritize effectively.
- Collaborate globally and cross-functionally with regional finance and accounting, product, retail, trust & security, customer experience and business intelligence teams.
- Develop a deep understanding of HomeAway’s e-commerce merchant business to build auditable and scalable financial models and projections. Drive forecasting efficiencies by championing automation and process improvement.
- Work comfortably and efficiently processing and analyzing large volumes of data in Excel and Tableau.
- Provide financial reviews to senior finance, commercial and product leadership, identifying financial risks and developing recommendations to optimize pricing and profitability.
- Understand geographical, product and customer segmentation and illustrate financial sensitivities of each to finance, commercial, product and other teams.
- Partner with trust & security, customer experience and accounting teams to support fraud risk management framework.
- Be an invaluable partner to the Sr. Finance Manager to support management of vendor relationships and economics. May require travel to meet with vendors and internal teams.

Candidate Qualifications:- Advanced Excel modeling skills that include constructing new models as well as improving the efficiency and accuracy of existing models.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with executive management, peers and other business groups. Know your audience.
- Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills, combined with strong attention to detail.
- Comfortable dealing with ambiguity, along with an innate sense of curiosity.
- Track record of building solid partnerships with peers. Ability to work independently as well as in team environments.
- Experience with financial ERPs or other OLAP based financial planning software such as Hyperion, Prophix, Adaptive, or Cognos.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles (US GAAP).
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business or Economics with 4-6 years of related progressive experience, or a master’s degree with 2-4 years of work experience.
