HomeAway is a data-driven company with the Data Insights department at the heart of the Reporting, Analysis and Data Science. Our deliverables include Enterprise level reporting, data analysis and building machine learning models that drive informed decisions to enable improved product features and business models. As the industry leader in the Vacation Rental space – we generate a lot of data. As a Sr. Data Insights Manager at HomeAway, you’ll play a major hands-on role in how we deliver insights in a scalable, reliable and accurate manner to product and business teams. You’ll partner with our leaders to understand their ideas and goals, and then lead our Engineers and Analysts to develop creative solutions. Simply put – we want you to be instrumental to HomeAway’s data consumption and insights platform. No big deal, right?

Our ideal contributor, at a minimum, will be able to:- Comfortably lead a collaborative team of highly technical leads and developers skilled in SQL, distributed data systems, R, Python, Enterprise BI tools (Microstrategy,
Cognos, SSAS, Power BI etc.) and data visualization tools (Tableau, Datameer).

- Work with our internal business and product teams to understand objectives and craft technical requirements.

- Estimate development efforts, and perform resource planning and forecasting.
- Design, develop and ensure processes for effective and efficient software development.
- Mentor, coach and develop employees.


Preferred Qualifications:- You have worked within a SQL Server environment.
- Feel challenged when working with multi-terabyte to petabyte distributed data systems.
- Understand that one tool is not always the answer and have worked across multiple Enterprise BI tools like Microstrategy/Cognos/SSAS etc.
- Can represent data in a visual manner using tools such as Tableau and Datameer.
- Proficient understanding of Kimball Methodology and data warehouse design.
- Understanding of Click Stream Analysis, Click Path Analysis, event logging and why this data is important to an e-commerce company.
- Experience with the Hadoop ecosystem.
- You can lead people and manage projects at the same time.
