Overview

**This position is based in Austin, TX**

Who you are: Got a passion for building energetic marketing campaigns? Love to drive results while keeping your customers engaged? Are you a seasoned marketer with strategy writ into your DNA? Spiceworks wants you! We’re looking for a take-charge Marketing Communications Manager who’s happy to roll up their sleeves, craft a solid marcomm plan, and put a multi-channel promo mix into play. Your left brain will “ooh-and-aah” over the operational mechanics of a nurture campaign… while your right brain relishes the opportunity to craft clever copy and content.

Who we are: Launched in 2006, Spiceworks is an Austin-based company that’s shaking up the tech space and transforming how products (hardware, software, and IT services) are marketed and sold to millions of IT professionals around the world.

Thousands of tech brands (including Microsoft, Dell, HP, and Rackspace) use Spiceworks to reach and connect with these IT pros. Historically a tough market to reach, vendors love the unique ways Spiceworks helps them connect with this elusive market… so much so that Forbes touted us “the future of media.”

Responsibilities

Your day-to-day (as a Marketing Communications Manager, you’ll):

  • Develop and execute killer marketing plans focused on an account-based marketing approach
  • Use your know-how to help scale programs across our portfolio
  • Devise and orchestrate campaigns as well as drive the content creation engine to support them
  • Oversee the variety of testing, reporting, and fine-tuning that needs to happen across all channels to hit goals
  • Work across departments as you present ideas and results to get everyone up to speed on marketing that creates engagement opportunities for sales (and brings our spicy brand to life with tech marketers)
  • Develop long-term marcomm plans that target top accounts, as well as groups of accounts, to meet key business objectives (a measureable pipeline and closed revenue are music to your ears, and you find ‘one-size fits-all’ marketing archaic… maybe even offensive!)
  • Further establish Spiceworks as THE trusted source with a pulse on the IT space like no other as you provide insights, tools, and access to subject matter experts
  • Foster a mutually beneficial relationship between Spiceworks and tech marketers
  • Know the ins-and-outs of our marketers and their pain points and personalities to craft spot-on programs that ultimately get them drinking the orange Kool-Aid and buying our solutions
  • Identify and manage the creation of effective content to drive marketing outcomes
  • Infuse all Spiceworks touch points with the SpiceVibe that sets us apart from traditional tech brands
  • Work with Product Management, Sales, Brand Marketing, Sales Enablement, and Executive Management (the whole motley crew!) to help prioritize marketing needs and investments and make tradeoffs as necessary

Qualifications

What does it take to do this job?

  • 7-10 years of marketing communications experience with a proven track record in demand gen for a fast-paced, agile B2B company (i.e., come ready to talk numbers you’ve hit in past roles)
  • A passion for marcomm and the skill set to prove it — complete with social, email, SEO, and marketing analytics
  • Experience marketing multiple product offerings to a range of accounts, using marketing automation software to make it all happen (e.g., Marketo, Eloqua, HubSpot, etc.)
  • Proven track record of developing and delivering sales tools and content that drive higher win rates and revenue that’s directly attributable to your marketing mastermind
  • Adaptability is key — we have a conference room named Zig-Zag (that’s just how we roll!)
  • Ability to drive outcomes across a diverse team and organization full of strong personalities and opinions (people respect you, listen to you… and like you!)
  • Grace under fire — you can make critical decisions and problem solve amid chaos
  • Copywriting can-do (you’ll learn to nail the Spiceworks style!) and some public speaking and presentation chops won’t hurt
  • Fluid confidence — you know your stuff, but aren’t afraid to explore new ideas/approaches
  • Thrive in a team environment, exhibit leadership experience, and bring a track record of B2B marketing success to the table
  • Grace under fire — you can make critical decisions and problem solve amid chaos

The Marketing Communications Manager will report to the Director of Vendor Marketing.
