Summary of Purpose:
The primary purpose of the Network Security Engineer at Kasasa is to plan, install, coordinate and document the physical and logical networks of our customer offerings. Secondary is the day to day administration as excellence in the primary function results in the ability of the full team to perform administrative tasks with confidence and competence while embodying the Patch Values. 
 
The Network Security Engineer is responsible for overall security pertaining to network infrastructure in our colocation and AWS cloud deployments. The position also provides backup for internal network administrators. The position works closely with systems engineers, network administrators, and developers on the design and implementation of solutions as well as the continuous improvement of existing deployments. 

Essential Functions
    • Infuse the Patch Values into your work ethic, every day and every interaction
    • Engineer perimeter and internal network security infrastructure at Kasasa's colocation facilities (Firewalls, Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems, DDoS Mitigation, Web Application Firewalls, Network Access Control, Virtual Private Networks, etc.)
    • Engineer perimeter and internal network security infrastructure for Kasasa's Amazon Cloud infrastructure (Virtual Private Cloud, Firewalls, Security Groups, Shield, WAF, etc)
    • Provide level two support on network administration tasks to systems engineering and development teams
    • Collaborate with Architecture and Development teams to create and enforce network security layers
    • Collaborate with the office of the CISO to assess security and compliance risk for the purpose of informing board level decisions
    • Evaluate, engage and work with consultants to periodically review network architecture
    • Design, implement and improve network security monitoring, alerting and incident response
    • Provide first responder services (on call) on network security incidents as a subject matter expert within the Kasasa Incident Management Framework
    • Perform technical and cost analysis as necessary to evaluate, select, and recommend network security technologies customer facing business objectives
    • Maintain architectural documentation and change requests in accordance with organizational policies and Technology Change Management Procedures
    • Provide performance, compliance, security violation and other reports (number of  probes/penetration attempt metrics, web access reports, etc.) for network security components (if/when requested)
    • Inform, establish and maintain appropriate information security standards and controls in collaboration with Kasasa security governance and compliance needs
Position Requirements
    • Bachelor’s degree in technologically relevant field or equivalent experience
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in designing and implementing secure enterprise network infrastructure
    • Certification in networks/Information Security (Juniper, AWS)
    • Expertise with Juniper firewalls (SRX), routers (MX) and switches (EX) is strongly preferred
    • Expertise with AWS networking constructs and their application is a big plus
    • Familiarity with Cisco, Vyatta and/or Extreme to support migrating to Juniper is a plus
    • Excellent written and verbal skills, interpersonal and collaboration skills, and ability to communicate risk-related concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
    • Knowledge and understanding of regulatory requirements is strongly preferred (FFIEC, NIST, PCI-DSS) is a big plus
    • Demonstrable experience leading cross-functional teams to achieve tactical and strategic goals
    • Demonstrable ability to balance security priorities with business priorities in terms of risk and reward
