Athenahealth, Inc. is currently seeking a Pharmacist Editor – Drug Content Development to join the Medical Information team. This team of dedicated pharmacists, physicians, and associates creates the essential clinical content for Epocrates, the #1 Medical App that is relied on for moment-of-care decisions by 1 in 2 doctors in the U.S. and over 1 million healthcare professionals worldwide.
 
Pharmacist Editors work in multiple assigned therapeutic areas and collaborate with others to create and maintain clinical drug content geared toward a professional audience (i.e., physicians, pharmacists, nurses) for the Epocrates mobile and online drug applications. The drug reference content is also incorporated into the athenaClinicals electronic health record (EHR). While this is an individual contributor position, we are especially looking for candidates with the desire and potential to grow into a leadership role within the Drug Content team.  Broad clinical knowledge and sharp clinical decision-making skills acquired through several years of clinical practice experiences across a variety of specialties or therapeutic areas are highly desired.
 
Responsibilities of this position include:
  • Developing clinical content for Epocrates medical references and tools, especially for the core drug reference and drug interaction checker
  • Performing drug information research & in-depth medical literature analysis
  • Distilling complex information from multiple sources into essential elements relevant to clinicians at the point of care
  • Managing clinical content projects
  • Collaborating with other Medical Information Editors to ensure accuracy of clinical content
  • Working cross-functionally with Product Innovation, R&D, Marketing, or other teams within the company to ensure clinical content integrity and optimal presentation for healthcare professionals
  • Supporting pharmacy education through student preceptorship
Required Qualifications:
  • PharmD degree
  • Active pharmacist license (any state)
  • Clinical practice and/or drug information residency
  • 3-5+ years of clinical practice experience

  • Good clinical judgment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to efficiently problem solve, work independently, and manage concurrent projects

  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Previous supervisory or management experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Medical editing/writing experience
