Public Relations Intern
HomeAway is seeking a creative, self-motivated college student or recent graduate to join our team as an intern this summer. The public relations intern will help execute PR strategies and media relations initiatives targeted toward vacation home owners and travelers who are discovering vacation rentals are a great alternative to traditional travel accommodations. This position has great learning potential for an exceptional candidate looking to begin or further their career in the public relations field.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree, preferably majoring in public relations, journalism or communications
- Strong work ethic, self-starter
- Strong written and verbal skills
- Knowledge of AP style
- Ability to multi-task
- Energetic, demonstrates good interpersonal skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Systems
- Must be able to work a minimum of 20 hours/week
Responsibilities:
- Assist in responding to media queries by researching media contacts, conducting research and fulfilling general requests
- Assist in writing and editing press releases
- Assist with monitoring and tracking media coverage
- Assist in developing and maintaining media lists
- Assist in planning/scheduling media tours, conference attendance
- Participate in US and International PR meetings
- Conduct general research
- Support PR team, as needed
