We are seeking a talented Sales Engineer to work closely with Client Services, Product Management, and Sales during the acquisition phase of new customers. You will be responsible for detailed conversations on product functionality and integration as well as developing conceptual models and documentation for platform solutions in support of a customer’s smooth transition from sales, through implementation.

In this job you will...

  • Be a key and active participant in sales calls, and visits to prospective clients when needed
  • Be the primary resource for platform demos during sales calls, and client onsite meetings
  • Listen to client needs, and translate those needs into the terminology/functionality of our platform
  • Spearhead the platform solution to be configured, and/or developed, for a prospective client
  • Ensure solution designs are complete, with abundant detail, and are stored appropriately
  • Properly set expectations of prospective clients, relative to platform functionality on the roadmap
  • Lead conversations with prospective clients on integration steps, processes, and access points
  • Conduct formal handoff, with the sales director, upon contract signature to the client services team
  • Maintain, and distribute, a weekly snapshot of prospects based on their stage in the sales pipeline
  • Participate in pipeline review meetings, helping to shape confidence internally in upcoming deals
  • Update corporate knowledge base with summary information about new clients, and their workflow
  • Identify use cases not yet covered by our current platform, and submit them to product management
  • Work cross-departmentally to compile time, cost, and level of importance for newly identified use cases
  • Support sales directors during RFP responses with answers to questions and/or documentation
Qualifications

It’s required that the Sales Engineer be extremely strong in communication, and presentation skills, both verbal and written. The optimal candidate should have a strong presence, and be able to think on their feet while meeting with prospective clients. The Sales Engineer will leverage an ability to quickly grasp new use cases, and acquire new platform knowledge through independent study, as well as interaction with other team members. The optimal candidate will be able to discuss technology through the language of business, know when to be more or less detailed, and evoke confidence in our solutions and technology to help remove any barriers a prospective client may raise.

  • 5-10 years of total experience, with some time in a client facing technical role; Technical PM, Solution Architect, etc.
  • 2-5 years of experience participating in the sales cycle at a technology company as a technical resource preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree, or technical certification(s), preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills; equally comfortable speaking to business execs, or technology resources.
  • Able to think quickly, design on the fly, and be correct 95% of the time.
  • Proven experience setting expectations of prospective clients, with varying levels of revenue potential.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving capabilities.
  • Highly organized and self-motivated.
  • Very detail oriented, and able to thrive in a high-growth, fast paced environment.
  • Strong sense of technology platforms, particularly in a SaaS environment.
