Senior Product Manager, Traveler Search and Geo Platform

The Opportunity:

We are searching for a Senior Product Manager to join HomeAway's Traveler product team to develop and grow our search and geospatial data technologies that power our core value proposition for helping our travelers find the perfect vacation across HomeAway, VRBO and global HomeAway sites around the world. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, analytical, detailed and results-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills and a strong work ethic.

We're looking for a leader with a passion for both product and engineering that has a strong blend of user experience, product and technology skills. The Search and Geo Platform PM will collaborate with our traveler front-end teams to design the optimal search experience, and with our engineers to deliver a robust product solution that is highly available, performant and scalable. The Search and Geo PM must have a detailed understanding of HomeAway’s search and geo technology stack and the underlying data structures. Proficiency with SQL and experience with search and geospatial data technologies is a must to be successful in this role.

Primary Responsibilities:

Help global travelers find the perfect rental, across the world’s largest network of vacation rental site

- Develop and execute the vision, strategy and roadmap for ensuring every HomeAway traveler can easily find the perfect vacation rental using our search and geospatial data technologies.

- Define and build world-class online traveler search and geo platform to drive higher conversion and more ecommerce bookings

- Manage the geospatial and POI data that powers traveler typeahead, our geographic breakdown structure(s), and geoplacement of properties.

- Evolve the search and geo platform through a “test and learn” approach and statistical analysis of traveler search behaviors.

- Drive key business metrics including feature usage and conversion rates 

- Collaborate with product marketing to research feature requirements that balance traveler and supplier needs 

- Monitor and investigate customer feedback, net promoter scores, customer support metrics, and A/B test results to make sure customer needs and concerns are being addressed 

- Collaborate daily with the Development team to ensure projects are clearly defined and properly phased to facilitate timely delivery of functionality 

- Manage resolution of urgent technical issues while communicating changes to business stakeholders 

- Launch new features or products by collaborating with customer service, product marketing and marketing on go-to-market and lifecycle marketing strategies 

- Lead competitive watch activities to identify gaps and opportunities that will further inform the product roadmap for our search and geo platform.

- Collaborate with the Business Intelligence team to track and report on key metrics (e.g. adoption, conversion, A/B test results) 

- Work with the executive management team to ensure they are fully engaged in product launch decisions

What we look for:

To be considered for the position, you must have demonstrated relevant and current expertise in directing product strategy and development of consumer-focused products. Product Managers should be passionate about well-designed online and mobile products, end user experience, and current and evolving best practices in software development. 

- 5+ years of Product Management or IT systems experience

- Experience utilizing SQL and data analysis to aid business decisions 

- Experience with online A/B testing to drive improvement in customer experience and business results 

- Experience with customer centricity and voice of the customer programs 

- Travel industry experience preferred 

- Experience with leveraging geospatial data and technologies to improve multi-channel customer experiences is a plus.

- Ability to manage large, complex, international projects in a fast-paced environment 

- Demonstrated experience in adopting product management best practices, standards, and policies 

- Strong communication and presentation skills 

- High level of initiative and desire to create a world-class user experience for our customers 

- BS in Computer Science or equivalent technical background

- Must be willing to travel up to 10% Internationally
