Senior Revenue Accountant

AlienVault is seeking a Senior Revenue Accountant with a positive attitude and passion for process improvement within a fast-paced growing pre-IPO organization. This role will work closely with cross functional teams to ensure timely and accurate reporting of revenue. This role will have a dual focus on (1) upstream efficiency within the quote-to-cash process and (2) streamlining our revenue recognition process as we integrate our existing systems to further automate and scale the business while implementing new tools to manage complex revenue transactions. The ideal candidate has experience with both software and SaaS revenue recognition, can think strategically on a process level, and also execute in the details. This role will be reporting to the Director of Revenue Accounting. 

On any given day you’ll be doing one or all of these things:

• Review sales arrangements to ensure proper revenue recognition in accordance with company policy and revenue recognition accounting standards.
• Assist in billing quality control to ensure accuracy of order processing and to identify revenue risks
• Perform revenue month-end close activities: prepare journal entries and reconciliations
• Prepare support for monthly close package and internal/external quarterly audit requests
• Play a key role in the implementation and day to day operations of financial systems required for revenue recognition and billing operations including Salesforce and NetSuite.
• Analysis, manual calculation, documentation and maintenance of VSOE & BESP and relative selling price allocation in accordance with GAAP
• Research accounting guidance and prepare technical memos to document Company’s position on various revenue transactions.
• Support and partner with Sales, Business Operations, Finance IT, Billing, Professional Services, and FP&A to support business operations

A strong candidate for this role looks like this:

• Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline
• 2-4 years of experience in revenue accounting
• Experience at company with strong SOX controls and audited by ‘Big 4’
• Solid working knowledge of best practices internal controls
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills
• Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented self-starter with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines.
• Strong people management, training and leadership skills
• Advanced Excel skills required
• Experience with NetSuite required
• SaaS or Software industry experience preferred
• Experience preparing for ASC 606 Implementation preferred
