The Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Technical Product Manager to join our Off Platform and Internal Technology team, part of HomeAway’s Technical Operations department. In this role, you will partner with our engineers to drive solutions and execution for our four key service areas; identity access management, collaboration and productivity tools, systems management and operational support for our Off Platform (.NET) product stacks. You will establish standards, manage roadmaps, increase the effectiveness of existing solutions and help build new ones to drive scale and efficiency throughout the organization.


Working with our team requires a unique blend of business acumen and technical skills demonstrated through the ability to translate stakeholder problems into actionable roadmaps and backlogs. You will partner with our technical operations managers to understand, communicate and implement the product requirements informed from industry analysis and best practice, and end-user feedback to manage the overall product lifecycle for a portfolio of solutions. You will be comfortable working with engineers and managers located around the world in disparate timezones. Common responsibilities include: managing project planning sessions, triaging issues and risks, publishing roadmaps, creating backlogs, communicating requirements to supporting teams, and collaborating with the wider technical operations and engineering teams to deliver world class solutions..

Responsibilities:

  • Meet frequently with technical operations and business stakeholders to develop a deep understanding of their business processes and needs

  • Work with the engineering and product leadership teams to ensure they are fully engaged in strategic and tactical planning decisions

  • Use agile best practices to manage the team’s portfolio lifecycle and solutions from service planning and design to end-user adoption

  • Collaborate with the technical operations manager(s) and engineering teams to ensure the team’s roadmap and backlog priorities are clearly defined and properly phased to facilitate timely delivery of functionality

  • Manage change management process with technical operations manager(s) and engineering leads

  • Monitor the team's project velocity and facilitate resolution of risks and blockers

  • Communicate status, risks with resolution plan, upcoming milestones, and recent releases to leadership teams

  • Lead the root cause analysis process and subsequent communication for internal team incidents

  • Manage the Team’s relationship with agency contract partners to provide staff augmentation on key projects

Candidate Profile:

  • High level of initiative, passion, and desire to create a world-class user experience for our customers and employees

  • Comfortable digging into business requirements and contributing to technical architecture and design

  • Demonstrated expertise in best practices for technical operations, and the ability to evolve those practices according to technology and business trends

  • Ability to lead teams through issue resolution and risk management

  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills, including the ability to present complex concepts to engineering and non-engineering stakeholders

  • Comfortable presenting to large internal groups and leadership team members

  • Proven track of record managing multiple, ongoing complex projects, while delivering on schedule

  • Full product lifecycle management experience, including user acceptance testing, launch, and end of life processes

  • Understanding of on-premise and cloud architectures

  • 5+ years of Product Management and/or related Program/Project Management or Scrum Master experience in a high-tech company, preferably in a B2C ecommerce environment.

  • Experience performing scrum master function within multiple agile teams

  • BA/BS required preferably in Computer Information Systems, Business Administration or related fields (applicable experience may be substituted)
