We seek to hire a Software Engineering Manager passionate about software and data; someone who can lead a team developing a high scale service that handles all content and media uploaded and delivered across our applications. Our platform receives thousands of high scale requests per second and powers media on HomeAway across geographies. This platform-level service is leveraged by dozens of internal engineering teams and we desire a hands on coding manager with in depth knowledge of software architecture, coding best practices, CI/CD and capacity planning to lead this critical initiative. Our next generation of services will use advanced machine learning frameworks and technology to derive insights and metadata within our media. A background in data mining, automated content sourcing or information retrieval would be a plus.

Responsibilities:

• Own the high scale content and media delivery service platform

• Conduct R&D and prototype potential solutions for production
• Build high-availability and high-performance microservices

• Foster relationships across engineering and business organizations
• Hire and develop great people

Requirements:

• At least two years of team lead experience in a fast paced web company

• Hands on technical leader with experience developing consumer facing webapplications using Java/Scala, SOA and Restful APIs

• Strong experience using web monitoring tools such as Splunk, Data Dog and New Relic
• Proven commitment to quality and velocity
• Results oriented with the ability to inspire passion in others

• Experience with data science (data mining, machine learning) is a plus

• Familiarity with R and/or Python is a plus
