Job Description:
HomeAway is a data driven company with the Data Insights department at the heart of the data analysis. Our department’s platforms include SQL Server, Hadoop and Big Query. Our deliverables include corporate reporting keeping track of KPI metrics and trends, descriptive analysis with data insights as well as predictive & prescriptive analysis through data science. The Sr. Data Analyst is someone who is passionate about learning business and leveraging data, technology and analytics to provide valuable data insights to drive company’s critical business decisions. Responsibilities:
- Become a HomeAway data guru, be the point of contact for all data questions and insights
- Proficient at analyzing and interpreting data to the point of being comfortable to mentor other analysts from other internal teams.
- Strong storytelling capabilities that are demonstrated through cutting edge visualizations with tools such as Tableau, to communicate findings to both technical and non technical stakeholders
with the key takeaways based on the analysis.
- Proven ability to interact with business teams and convey analytical results into simplified and actionable reports.
- Review metrics, analyze data and partner with internal engineering and product teams to implement process and system improvements.
- Engage with various business, engineering and data teams to understand various new initiatives in the organization globally.
- Partner with business leaders, product managers and internal teams to understand the requirements and technical specifications and address complex business questions.
- Manage commitments and juggle priorities in a fast paced dynamic environment.
- Be proactive in solving business questions that data could potentially answer.
- Proficient with writing performant queries in SQL against multi-terabyte and billion row datasets in EDW and Hadoop environments.
- Understanding of Clickstream data and ability to extract and analyze event data with raw BQ or GA UI.
- Detail oriented and capable of working with precise concepts such as financial reporting as well as comfort with ambiguity and able to discern requirements.
- Able to independently drive a task to completion understanding the data, end goals, and ability to provide insights beyond the customer's expectations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent with directly-related work experience required.
- Ability to work independently with high-level direction, willingness to engage with partners across many disciplines.
- Consistent ability to produce quality, accurate and highly detailed work products.
- Experience in R and python(or any programming language) will be an added advantage.
- Tableau, R, SQL and Datameer.
