 Civitas Learning is seeking a world-class Senior DevOps Engineer to scale our ops and infrastructure to serve millions of users accessing our applications in a multi-tenant/multi-region environment. The optimal fit for this position will have a proven background scaling within Amazon Web Services. Additionally, they will have had some hands-on experience with security and compliance initiatives like SOC, SSAE 16/SAS70 Type II, PCI DSS, HIPAA, FERPA, and Sarbanes–Oxley. The optimal fit must be a leader and self-starter, organized, motivated, excellent at multi-tasking, and familiar with Agile methodologies.

 
This position will work with each organization in engineering to help define, scope, implement, test, deploy, and monitor existing and new infrastructure and development-related tooling necessary to scale both client and internally facing products.  Security is our number one priority across the company.  The ideal candidate will work with the existing Operations team to both harden and deliver security-sound products.  The candidate will also optimize and elaborate on existing infrastructure components.  From cross-region orchestration strategies to cost optimization, we strongly believe in continuous improvement!

Required Skills & Experience:
  • Linux: Debian/variants
  • Python/Ruby or other object-oriented/scripting language
  • Total awareness and compelling experience with Amazon AWS ecosystem, EC2, PaaS offerings (EMR, RDS, Redshift, etc.) & VPC [Be prepared to share scaling and automation war stories!]
  • Networking experience (subnetting, routing, reverse-proxying)
  • Orchestration experience with either Cloudformation, Ansible, Fabric or similar
  • Provisioning experience with either Chef, Puppet, or SaltStack
  • Packaging experiences with either APT, RPM, or Python Wheels
  • Virtualization experience with either Docker, CoreOS, or Vagrant
  • Service Discovery experience with either Etcd, Consul, or Zookeeper
  • Metric aggregation experience with either StatsD, CollectD, or Logstash
  • Metrics Visualization experience with either Graphite, Nagios, Data Dog
  • Continuous Integration with Jenkins or Travis
  • RDBMS experience with one or more: PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server, or Oracle
  • Search experience with either Elasticsearch, Solr, or Lucene
  • NoSQL experience with DynamoDB, Cassandra, MongoDB, or Riak
  • Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) such as SSH, PGP, TLS 
  • VCS concepts:  Git, SVN
  • VPN: IPSec, SSL, PPTP
  • DNS: Route53
  • Web servers: Apache, Nginx, Nodejs
  • Directory Services/Authentication*: OpenLDAP, Kerberos, Active Directory

  • Infrastructure Cost Management: Netflix/Ice, Cloud Health
