The Sr. Tax Business Analyst will work at HomeAway with the Tax team, Tax PM team, and Tax Technology team on a variety of business advisory, financial reporting, transactional, and tax research projects. The position will collaborate with Finance and Accounting owners and stakeholders to: 1) scope functional and technology requirements; 2) identify risks, issues, and contingency plans; 3) manage projects and drive project deliverables. This position emphasizes building consensus, gaining alignment on system and process designs, and execution of changes and testing required to support tax initiatives. It is imperative that the individual that fills this position be self-motivated and collaborative and driven by learning about the business and driving improvements. 

Required Skills/Competencies:

• Support HomeAway Tax projects, including Tax engine initiatives, and business and integration efforts. 
• Analyze business programs throughout HomeAway and Expedia brands and advise on impacts to reporting, systems, and compliance operations.
• Work with HomeAway Tax, Tax Technology, Tax Project Management, Finance stakeholders, business sponsors, product managers, developers, and other stakeholders to develop and review project designs and business requirements.
• Assist with developing and/or refining business objectives, project scope, and timelines with a tax perspective. 
• Represent HomeAway and Expedia’s Tax Department in cross-functional business meetings concerning data and systems requirements.
• Develop solutions to automate, streamline, and enhance data access, integrity, and processes.
• Prepare data analyses to support controversy and litigation including incorporation of multiple data sets to create an end-to-end view of data flows.
• Manage all day-to-day project details, including coordinating with project team members and ensuring deadlines achieved.
• Collaborative working demeanor critical to success; candidate must work well as part of a team and individually; must be able to effectively mentor and develop junior staff.
• Attention to detail and passion around digging deep into data.

Relevant Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or a related field.
• Experience working on complete technology and/or business projects .
• Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant Technology, Finance or Accounting experience in a technology or fast-paced travel-related organization.
• Proficient with all applications of the Microsoft Office suite, including: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Project, Visio, and Outlook.
• Exemplary and demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate highly complex and multi-faceted technology and data concepts to non-technical colleagues in a simple, clear and concise way, both in written and verbal formats.
• Demonstrated presentation skills and ability to persuade and create action.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, coupled with a self-motivated personality and an ability to exceed expectations in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.

Preferred Experience:

• Working knowledge of tax engines (Vertex) and/or prior experience with sales/hotel occupancy taxes a plus.
• Entry level experience with data analytic tools including SQL, TeraData, and Business Objects.
• Working knowledge of software development processes with a focus on eCommerce preferred.
• Prior demonstrated Finance Business Analyst and/or hands on Project Management experience preferred.
