We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer for our Open Threat Exchange (OTX) team in Austin Texas. The ideal candidate will become a core part of a team of talented engineers building innovative security software products. This is a highly technical position for someone that is comfortable working on a fast-paced release cycle.

 

OTX provides two key functions for AlienVault.  First, the team is manically-focused on continuing to extend the functionality of the world’s largest open threat intelligence community.  Second, the team develops new tools and analytics that process the millions of threat contributions from OTX users and partners that we receive each day.  The ideal candidate should have a background in developing highly scalable tools targeted at IT security professionals and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment (as well as understand the specific challenges that come along with it). This is a hands-on technical role. Strong coding chops are a must have

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

  • Collaborating with other members of the Engineering, User Experience and DevOps teams to develop our SaaS security products.
  • Utilizing engineering best practices, standards, architectural approaches and complex technical resolutions for processes.
  • Work with UX engineers and graphics designers to create and implement web user interface elements that adhere to our UX pattern library.
  • Translation of UI/UX wireframes to visual elements.
  • Use Acceptance Test Driven Development (ATDD) efforts to ensure that deliverables are secure, scalable and reliable
  • Implement key architecture and infrastructure decisions.
  • Work closely with the Engineering Team Leaders to plan and execute software engineering development cycles in an Agile environment.
  • Build strong global software development engineering teams and a strong, positive software engineering culture.
  • All other duties and responsibilities and may be assigned

 

WHAT YOU NEED:

●        3+ years of JavaScript experience.

●        3+ years of Python experience.

●        5+ years software development.

●        Pixel-perfect mockup execution.

●        Experience consuming REST APIs.

●        Self-starter with strong work ethic and ability to excel as part of a geographically diverse team.

●        Writing unit tests.

●        Fluency in English, Spanish a plus

●        Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

 

PREFERRED (Pluses):

 

●        Full stack development experience.

●        Understanding of these specifications: ECMA 5.2, HTTP/1.1, CORS

●        Experience in building single page applications.

●        Strong background in solving concurrency and horizontal scalability problems.

●        Experience with high throughput, scalable, systems.

●        Knowledge of enterprise security/threat intelligence/threat detection.

●        Network security.

●        Application security.

●        Continuous Integration for Agile Development.

●        Python, AngularJS, Git, Webpack, D3.js, Karma, Jasmine, Robot Framework, ElasticSearch, AWS, Azure, Linux, VMWare.

●        ECMA 6.
