We are looking for a User Experience professional to join our growing team and help us think through difficult IT security problems from a user-centered design perspective. 

Interested in learning about a domain that is evolving every day? IT Security is about staying one step ahead of the bad guys.  AlienVault User Experience is about helping our users gather intelligence to navigate security risks and eliminate threats before their network is compromised.

User Experience is central to AlienVault’s success.  Our business model requires that security experts, not executives, evaluate and buy our products. As a result, our products need to be appealing to the practitioner and show value quickly. Security experts don’t have time to dig through gigabytes worth of network data. They need actionable outputs that are easy to understand and contain supporting evidence so they can track down the bad guys.  A well tested user experience with real user input makes this possible.   

AlienVault products are successful because our teams talk directly to end users and look for opportunities to more closely align with their needs.  You won’t come here and have your ideas shoved in a corner, your voice as an advocate for the user will be heard. 

WHAT YOU NEED:

• 3-5 years experience designing complex web applications.
• Portfolio of designs with stories to tell.
• Ability to take product requirements, dive deep in to the technical details and create thoughtful designs that are ready for user testing within hours or days, not weeks or months.
• Experience with an iterative design process, and a recognition that the first design is rarely the final design.
• Experience planning and conducting usability tests with real end users.
• A willingness to learn a new domain. Not all details will be understood overnight.

PREFFERED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• An understanding of HTML/CSS to communicate clearly with front-end development.
• Experience working in an agile environment.
• Basic understanding of IT and security.span
