Job Summary:

The UX Manager will be an integral part of the Product Design team – leading, managing and guiding the UX/UI designers in the ideation, creation and fulfillment of portal and application design across our product suite. Our ideal candidate is an experienced UX/UI Designer with demonstrated leadership experience who is looking to expand their skillsets into management. They should have a passion for user experience and interface design, a love for collaboration, and demonstrated experience in thought leadership.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee multiple designers across multiple projects in varying stages simultaneously
  • Establish and maintain high creative standards, providing detailed direction and insight to the design team throughout the life cycle of the design process
  • Work closely with the UX/UI designers to concept, storyboard, wireframe, prototype and QA intuitive and engaging user experiences on our Portal and App Framework platforms
  • Lead the designers in creating user interface designs that are brand consistent, pixel perfect and keep in mind web and OS best practices
  • Supervise the creation of production-ready art assets and style guides for implementation by the development team
  • Work closely with the Sr Director of Design on managing the workloads, timelines, dependencies, and deliverables of the design team
  • Work closely with the Sr Director of Design in creating, developing, and rolling out new product design processes to encourage the depth of design thinking, team collaboration and design efficiency
  • Take an active role of mentorship with the design team, gaining an understanding of each designer’s goals and skillsets and help in providing them with opportunities for growth and improvement
  • Demonstrate strong thought leadership when working closely with the Product Managers on design strategy, feature recommendations, and design approaches
  • Work closely with the Product Managers and Development Managers across all projects to ensure design dependencies are identified, timelines are managed, and quality designs are created and delivered on time
  • Provide guidance to Product Managers on current web and mobile trends and design paradigms to influence future roadmap planning
  • Lead presentations to the internal team and stakeholders on the latest design work and achievements, both in-person and via conference call
  • Work closely with Product Marketing and Product Managers to ensure accurate go-to-market collateral and messaging is being delivered to marketing channels
  • Support Sales and Marketing as design point-of-contact for any of our product offerings
  • Occasional travel for product-related meetings (including sales meetings with potential partners, customer venue on-site user testing, and product training sessions at other office locations)

Qualifications:

  • BFA / MFA in Design and 3+ years of professional design experience
  • Previous experience in end-to-end utilitarian web portal design or mobile design
  • Proficient in industry standard software for wireframing, prototyping, and visual design (Creative Suite, Sketch, Sympli, Atomic or similar)
  • Excellent visual, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Strong internal motivation, natural ambition and an ability to deliver quickly across multiple efforts
  • Consistent track record for delivering commitments on time, with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work successfully in a collaborative team environment
  • Appreciation of balance between creative and business objectives
  • Demonstrated knowledge of web and mobile industry and new technology trends

Desirable: 

  • Experience with User Research, User Testing or designing in sprints
  • Experience using Jira, task creation and management
  • Previous experience designing web interfaces for a web/mobile Software-As-A-Service (SaaS) or similar product offering
  • Previous experience designing for mobile or responsive design
  • Candidate must be open to travel as needed
