Today's modern tech company couldn't function as efficiently and effectively without the help of software tools. They help us communicate better, collaborate seamlessly, track sales performance and execute a litany of other tasks that would probably otherwise be a drain on current resources. With a partially remote team at Built In Austin, we don't know where we'd be without Slack or OfficeVibe.
We spoke with four Austin companies and asked them what's the startup tool they value most.
"Our company communicates on Slack! We use to use Skype, but Slack can accommodate sending larger files. We use Slack for all internal communication, everything from day to day conversations with teammates to HR needs and company announcements. Having the company in different time zones and offices spread across the US, Slack really helps keeps communication going and everyone on track." — Kristen Ghidossi Mingus, Events & Partnerships Manager at 3Q Digital
"At LegalZoom, we couldn’t live without Slack and Salesforce. Zoomers rely on Slack for all forms of communication, from team developments to news from our CTO to discussions about the latest episode of Game of Thrones. Slack facilitates so much collaboration and helps create a stronger and more vibrant sense of community. We wouldn’t be able to accomplish this level of interaction with simple instant messaging programs. Zoomers also rely on Salesforce for critical customer care, sales, and production operations. Not only does it allow us to monitor orders, it also allows us to maintain an up-to-date knowledge center that provides our call center representatives all the information and tools they need to create the best possible customer experience. It’s difficult to imagine LegalZoom without this platform." — Jennifer Kettler, Talent Management
"In just a short time, Facebook at Work has completely changed how we communicate and collaborate across the entire organization. It helps us better categorize company messaging while giving us a historic place to store information so every can access it easily. What is really cool about Facebook at Work is that it empowers all WP Engine employees to create and join groups based on their work, but also their personal interests — right now I would say the Pokemon Go page is pretty popular!" — Michael Newman, Recruiting Operations
"moovel’s can’t-live-without business tool is Slack. It cuts down on numerous emails, provides us with space to have some pretty awesome gif wars, and allows us to quickly connect with our colleagues in Portland and Germany. We love Slack so much that our moovel lab team recently created a moovel Slack Bot that gives users public transportation and car2go information with just a few simple commands. The bot is only available in Germany at the moment but we are looking at brining it to the US." — Alexis Davis, Communications Specialist
