ClearBlade closes $2.4M round of financing

ClearBlade raised $2.4 million of a planned $3.7 million round of funding last week. The startup, which builds a platform to quickly develop real-time, scalable IoT devices for industrial applications, did not disclose what the funding will be used for. Austin e-commerce engine bought by IT and consulting firm

Weidenhammer Systems Corp., a large Pennsylvania-based IT and consulting firm, announced on Tuesday its plans to buy Austin-based Praxis Information Science. The details of the purchase have not been released, but 16 Praxis employees will join the Weidenhammer team. [Press Release]

 

uShip CEO and co-founder to step down

Matt Chasen has announced today that he will step down as CEO after 14 years leading uShip, the online shipping company he co-founded in 2003. Chasen will remain on the company's board while he focuses on early-stage startups and opportunities. uShip broke news in August that the company will relocate to a 45,000 square foot headquarters on East Riverside to accommodate for its extensive hiring plans over the next three years. SXSW HQ to move to new 12-story office

Due to the SXSW team outgrowing their current office at 400 Bowie Street, the organization is planning to take over three floors at a new high-rise slated for construction at 1400 Lavaca St. The new office would have nearly 150,000 square feet of space compared to the existing location's 17,000.  [Austin Statesman]

 

HID Global acquires IoT ecosystem provider

Headquartered in Austin, HID Global announced today the acquisition of Bluvision, an IoT solutions developer. The deal will support HID's initiatives to expand the company's real-time asset tracking functions, increase its presence in the IoT market with Bluetooth solutions, and expand cloud services. Accruent relocates to bigger office at the Domain

Accruent is in the process of moving into a larger location to house its 450 employees under one roof. The new facility is located at the Domain, adjacent to Rock Rose. The move follows news of the company's recent acquisitions of BIGCenter, a provider of integrated workplace management systems, and Verisae, a cloud-based solution provider. [Press Release]

 

Kasasa named a BankNews Innovative Solution Award winner

BankNews recognized Kasasa, formerly known as BancVue, as a 2016 Innovative Solution Award winner for its refer-a-friend technology. The Kasasa digital referral program is automated and mobile-friendly, integrating with social media and gamer proof. [Press Release]

 

Twyla announces first art showroom at Domain

Online art retailer startup Twyla opened its first temporary store last Friday at the Domain Northside. The official grand opening is slated for Dec. 7. The art on display can also be seen online and showcased throughout 10 venues across the city. [Press Release]
