At the end of the day, Austin tech leaders are just like us. We connected with area startup founders and CEOs to learn about what apps they can't live without, from weather to social media and more.
They also shared what apps they'd love to see get developed to add to that list — regardless of how unrealistic they may be.
Brian Cruver is the CEO and founder of AlertMedia, an emergency mass notification system for businesses to communicate to their employees.
Apps used every day: WeatherBug, CNBC, Travel/airline apps, Uber, Hotels.com, Instacart, Amazon, StubHub, AlertMedia Pro
What app do you wish someone would build? I'd like an app to replace all my keys (car, house, office, etc.). No reason to have those anymore...
Also, an app that tells us when our dog needs to go outside for potty time.
Andy Ambrose is the co-founder at LiveOak Technologies. Their platform helps the workflow of financial service providers run more efficiently through secure e-signatures, live conferencing and collaboration.
Apps used ever day: LinkedIn, Streak, MixMax
What app do you wish someone would build? I wish there was an AI app that would take all of the people looking at us in social media and tweeting about relevant topics and serve me up the top 10 people to contact each day.
Daina Burnes is the co-founder of Bold Metrics, a startup digitizing human sizing predictions for the clothing, sporting equipment and VR sectors.
Apps used every day: Slack, Waze, UberEATS, Amazon Prime Now, Pandora, Twitter, and a weather app since Austin changes dramatically within a few hours!
What app do you wish someone would build? Animal shelters could use a better system to both advertise available animals as well as communicate more effectively to their foster community regarding their foster-related needs on a daily basis.
Michael Lam is the co-founder and head of operations at Opcity, a licensed real estate brokerage linking agents, lenders and clients.
What app do you wish someone would build? I can’t wait to have an AI on my phone that can reliably manage and prioritize notification settings across applications.
What app do you wish someone would build? We haven't been able to find a CRM + emailing capabilities that works well with us. We have used Hubspot, Salesforce, Pipedrive, Rapportive, Yesware and likely several others. The biggest frustration is that there are so many apps out there but few integrate with each other or some are more superior than others in their services. You end up with too many apps and doing repetitive tasks. Would love it if someone built something that would save us time in combining the prospecting + emailing/customer relationship.
