Austin's SparkCognition announced this week that it was awarded an artificial intelligence pilot contract with the U.S. Air Force to augment senior-level decision making with data. DIUx, a government-sponsored accelerator program that provides capital to companies working to solve defense issues, awarded the contract. Additionally, the company welcomed Wendy Anderson, former chief of staff to Chuck Hagel, Ash Carter and Penny Pritzker, as SparkCognition’s new GM of defense and national security. [Press Release]
With a new downtown Austin office, Namely plans to expand its local presence from 20 employees to 50. The startup develops HR platforms for mid-sized companies and is based out of NYC with offices locally and in San Francisco. Forrester Wave recognized goTransverse as a leader in recurring customer and billing management in its Q3 report. The Austin fintech startup launched its monetization and subscription management platform in 2008 and has over 30 public clients, including GE, which they signed in March. [Press Release]
As TrendKite's employee count continues to surge, the Austin company recently added industry veterans Kevin McKeown and Prabhakar Gopalan to its executive team. Gopalan will serve as VP of growth and revenue operations and McKeown will join as SVP of worldwide sales. [Press Release]
Indeed announced on Friday that it has acquired Interviewed, an HR technology company that helps companies recruit more efficiently. Interviewed launched in 2015 from San Francisco and developed tools to automatically screen job candidates through a series of assessments. All Interviewed employees will join Indeed per the acquisition. [Press Release]
Accruent shared on Wednesday that it has acquired Lucernex, a cloud-based integrated workplace management system in real estate and equipment lease accounting. CEO John Borgerding said the acquisition will strengthen Accruent’s ability to support businesses that face regulatory compliance challenges in real estate and equipment leases. Interior Define to open Austin guideshop
Interior Define recently announced plans to open a brick and mortar location in Austin next month. This marks the e-commerce furniture startup’s third “guideshop,” and it will be located at Domain Northside. I/D’s guideshops act as a consumer-facing showroom where interested buyers can view furniture models and customization options. Online, users can customize and purchase made-to-order pieces. Alabama-based grocery delivery service Shipt recently announced its expansion to Austin, San Antonio, Killeen, Temple and College Station. The startup, launched in 2015, partnered with H-E-B to provide curbside deliveries of groceries, alcoholic beverages and household goods for Shipt members. [Press Release]
