The World Spins Series: China, Innovation and Austin, May 22 at 6:30 p.m.

World Affairs Council of Austin presents “China, Innovation and Austin” this Tuesday night as part of its World Spins Series at Neill-Cochran House Museum. David Firestein, founding director of the China Public Policy Center, will share his experiences bolstering U.S.-China and U.S.-Asia trade. Free parking will be available in the back and a food truck will be on site.

 

Bunker Labs: Muster in Austin, May 23 at 3 p.m.

Bunker Labs’ annual fundraiser will be held Wednesday afternoon at WeWork’s Domain location. The event will feature stories of challenges and successes from veterans, business innovators and community leaders. Additionally, veteran-owned companies from WeWork’s Veterans in Residence program powered by Bunker Labs will participate in an exposition titled “Mission Showcase.” Panel discussions on tech trends and business innovations will also take place.

 

MassChallenge Texas Startup Showcase, May 23 at 5 p.m.

Finalists from MassChallenge Texas’s 2018 inaugural cohort will present in a trade-expo format this Wednesday night at the JW Marriott. Come connect with the startups, see the emerging technologies and vote for your favorite one as part of the event’s People's Choice Award. Beverages and snacks will be served.

 

How to Build Trust in the Marketplace by HomeAway Product Manager, May 23 at 6:30 p.m.

Jordan Janes, a product manager at HomeAway, will speak this Wednesday night on the steps to take to build trust in your product in the sharing economy space. As part of the discussion, Janes will highlight how companies behind popular marketplaces have approached their product decisions. The event will take place at Product School Austin, located at 701 Brazos St.

 

Austin Data Science presents gShowdown: A Technology Debate, May 24 at 5:45 p.m.

Join Austin Data Science this Thursday evening for cool beers and a hot debate at Galvanize. This debate format will put experts on two sides of an issue faced by the tech sector in a head-to-head showdown. Then, the audience will vote to pick the victor. Thursday's session will include debaters Jon Loyens, the co-founder and CPO of data.world, and Kevin Welch, the president of EFF-Austin. The two will speak on how to approach regulating data privacy.
