ArtCraft Entertainment raises $2.5M

ArtCraft Entertainment, the gaming studio behind the highly anticipated multiplayer online role-playing game Crowfall, secured another $2.5 million in funding last week. Eight unnamed investors participated in the round, which the company did not provide comment on. The company has been developing Crowfall since 2015 and has built out a huge user base of early adopter players in the tens of thousands. [FormDs]

RapidDeploy moves HQ from South Africa to Austin

Logistics tech startup RapidDeploy, based out of Cape Town, South Africa, opened its U.S. headquarters in Austin recently. The company offers a cloud-based dispatch platform for emergency service providers. RapidDeploy will continue hiring for its Austin headquarters that will work with its growing team in South Africa. Pensa Systems raises $5M

Austin-based Pensa Systems announced on Sunday that is has raised $5 million for its AI-powered inventory solution. Signia Venture Partners led the funding, which included participation from Commerce Ventures and existing investors ZX Ventures, ATX Seed Ventures, Capital Factory, Revtech Ventures and others. The company’s platform uses drones that scan and interpret shelving status on products in real time. [Built In Austin]

Modernize: back-to-back Startup Games champs

The eighth annual Austin Startups Games took place over the weekend, with 18 teams competing for charity. Modernize took home gold for the second year in a row, winning $18,000 for Mobile Loaves & Fishes, Inc. OutboundEngine took home second with $12,000 for Austin Pets Alive, and ScaleFactor earned third place, raising $7,500 for Big Brothers Big Sisters. Want to do it all over again? DrillingInfo acquires MineralSoft

DrillingInfo, an energy data analytics company, shared that it has acquired Austin startup MineralSoft this week. The two companies have collaborated since 2017, when they teamed up to provide real-time portfolio insights and analytics on mineral values and non-operated assets. Asure Software acquires Nebraska-based HR tech company

HR tech firm Asure Software acquired Payroll Maxx, of Omaha, NE, last week. Payroll Maxx, which resells Asure’s human resource information system, develops workforce management solutions for small to mid-size businesses. Last year Payroll Maxx processed over $1 billion in annual gross wages for clients from all 50 states. [Press Release]
