Kony, which helps companies quickly build mobile apps, raised $37 million. Its banking tool called Kony DBX helps small and mid-sized banks keep up in the digital world where fewer people visit bank branches. The company hopes to hire in customer success and sales as well as UX and product roles. [Built In Austin]

TalentGuard raised $4 million for its career development platform that aims to improve employee retention. TalentGuard makes it possible for employees to track and follow through with their career plans on an automated platform. Features include identifying new roles they may be interested in or recording their accomplishments. The company plans to double their 25-person team in Austin. [Built In Austin]

New Knowledge raised $3 million to analyze social media discourse. The company uses AI technology to verify whether social media accounts are authentic or coming from competitors and disrupters. It can also tell if posts are coming from a paid boost or not. New Knowledge plans to move as they grow to 65 employees by the end of the year. [Austin Business Journal]

Thinkful is launching a living stipend in Austin. The company offers alternative payments for their school, including a promise of a $1,500 monthly living stipend and no tuition payments until their students receive a job.
