Weekly Refresh: Ethos Comes to Austin and Cerberus Funds a New Mobile Game

San Francisco-based Ethos is launching an Austin office. The insurance company raised $60 million in Series C funding, with plans to fill 20 engineering and customer operations roles in Texas. The new location will be more of a central hub than a satellite office, the company told Built In. [Built In Austin]

Cerberus Interactive raised $1.75 million for its first game, "Atlas Empires." The location-based mobile game was developed with crowdsourced input from a pay-to-play Facebook group. It likely will be available to users in the U.S. and United Kingdom during the first quarter next year. [Built In Austin]

Austin fintech company Kony Inc. is being bought by Swiss banking giant Temenos AG. The $559 million deal will strengthen Temenos's presence in the U.S., and Kony CEO Thomas Hogan said the company expects to grow its workforce in Austin as it transitions into an office twice the size of its current space. Spruce Services relocated from Houston to Austin. The startup gives apartment-dwellers on-demand help with chores like laundry and pet care. It will operate out of a coworking space, for now, and is hiring for two director positions, one manager position and three associate positions. [Austin Business Journal]

Bazaarvoice acquired New York product discovery startup Influenster. This latest acquisition is Bazaarvoice's fifth to-date, and it will help the company expand its brand reputation management and product review services. The terms of the deal were not disclosed. [Austin Business Journal]
