Weekly Refresh: EdgeMicro Launches Micro Data Centers, Sana Receives $3.6M

Five Austin tech companies raised over $450 million in October. Two of those secured investments over $100 million: SparkCognition, which creates artificial intelligence for industrial use, and RigUp, a digital marketplace that connects contract workers and energy companies. [Built In Austin]

Sana received a $3.6 million investment. Sana Benefits launched in 2017 with the goal of making healthcare benefits more affordable for businesses, especially small- to medium-sized companies. This additional investment from Gigafund and Trust Ventures brings the company’s total funding to $6.3 million. [Built In Austin]

Thales and Ground Labs partnered on a new security solution. Ground Labs, a leader in sensitive data discovery, has partnered with Thales to create a new and more seamless data discovery and security solution. [Business Wire]

EdgeMicro launches three Micro Data Centers. The edge colocation company launched in 2017 and has been working to deploy these modular data centers to be at the forefront of edge computing. Located in Austin, Tampa and Raleigh, the MDCs will be network-neutral and aim to deliver scalability and flexibility. [PRNewswire]

Revel unleashed 1,000 shared mopeds in Austin. Based in New York, the electric moped startup was founded in March 2018 and offers vehicles in Brooklyn, Queens and Washington, D.C. The company plans to have about 40 local employees. [AustinInno]
