New year, new experiences: Events we can’t wait for in 2018

There’s an excitement in the air. Can you feel it? It’s a little like waiting for Santa to arrive on Christmas Eve, only better. So much better.

It’s a new year. And what comes with a new year? A whole new schedule of events, of course!

With so many incredible experiences to be had, how can you keep calm? I know we’re certainly not trying to contain our pure glee. Yes pure, unadulterated glee.

You’re just as likely to find us TicketCitians talking about what upcoming events have us dancing around the office as you will finding us dancing among the audience.

To say we love what we do here is a bit of an understatement. Our office is perpetually having a heated sports debate or chatting about the best musicians to see in town that week. We get serious FOMO every single day!

So when the calendar flips to the new year you can bet we’re marking off those special dates and counting down the days.

What events in 2018 have us giddy, you ask? Here are some of the events our employees are looking forward to the most this year:

James, Purchasing: “I am so looking forward Super Bowl 52. I would love to see the Vikings play the Patriots in Minnesota. With all that has happened this year I would love to see the Patriots tie with the most championships of all time, in the NFL and the Vikings playing on their home-field for the Super Bowl.”

Chris, Purchasing: “Houston Astros opening day – April 2nd. Getting to see the Astros raise the World Series Champions banner is a dream come true.”

Taylor, Renewal Manager: “I am most looking forward to the Masters Tournament this year because there’s nothing like seeing Tiger in his red and black playing on Championship Sunday. Hot take: he’ll make it to the final round this year!”

Zach, President: “The best golf tournament in the world and one of the best events in sports. The field is going to be loaded for 2018 Masters, with a dozen big name players capable of winning. Seeing defending champ, Sergio Garcia, battle Jordan Spieth, Bubba Watson, Justin Thomas, Phil Mickelson and Rory McIlroy is going to be amazing. Plus there’s a chance that a healthy Tiger Woods could crash the party. I’ve got Masters week 2018 circled on my calendar.”

(The Masters Tournament was the clear favorite in our office!)

Haley, IT Developer: “My boyfriend and I are going to see Lorde in Houston in March! I love her music and I’ve never gotten to see her live, and I’m extra excited since Run the Jewels are opening. And this is blasphemy in Austin, but I’m going to ACL for the first time this year. I grew up in Austin, and my birthday is during the festival every year. It’s finally time.”

Juston, Marketing: “Foo Fighters at 360 Amphitheater on April 18. I’ve never had the opportunity to see them (I wasn’t here for ACL a couple years ago) and Dave Grohl is probably my favorite musician ever, so I’m stoked.”
