CNET is looking for an enterprising reporter flexible enough to handle a wide variety of general assignment topics. The role involves writing about mobile devices and apps, but will also include covering a number of other topics that bubble up in the cultural zeitgeist. The writer will be tasked with everything from daily breaking stories to features, analyses and explainers.

What You'll Do:

  • Write quickly and on a deadline, as well as come up with original story ideas.
  • Write a mix of daily breaking news stories and follow-up analyses, features and other exclusive content.
  • Work with colleagues on cross-team projects and coordinate with colleagues across different teams, including teams such as Reviews and Video.
  • Break news on your beat.
  • Tell your stories on video to complement your written work.

What We're Looking For:

  • 2+ years of experience in a newsroom.
  • An existing list of sources in the industry (and a readiness to grow that list in this role).

Even Better:

  • A flexible attitude and willingness to embrace new topics.
  • The ability to quickly develop expertise and authority on big stories.
