Junior Controller

Description: We are Manifest.eco, a high-growth, sustainable third-party logistics start-up, shaking up the fulfillment industry by offering eco-friendly logistic solutions for eCommerce brands and pioneering Third Wave Fulfillment.

The Controller is Manifest’s first full time hire in the Finance department and will report directly to the VP Operations.

Manifest’s Controller will oversee all day-to-day aspects of Manifest’s finances and prepare monthly financial reporting for the executive team.

The Controller will be tasked with three core projects immediately upon hire:

1. Ensure the merchant-invoicing process is done within 7 calendar days of the close of each month
2. Move from cash-basis accounting to accrual-basis accounting to yield more impactful insights about the health of the business
3. Generate per-merchant P&L reporting to gain a more granular view of profitability across our portfolio of merchants

The Day-to-Day:

• Bookkeeping & Accounting Entries
  • Manage Quickbooks accounting system
  • Move from cash-basis to accrual-basis within Quickbooks 
    • Will require analysis of separate invoice data and manipulation of automated transaction entries within Quickbooks 
• Invoice Processing
  • Process all merchant invoices within 7 days of close of month
• Payment Subscription Management
  • Manage active payment methods on file for each merchant
  • Proactively adjust “prepayment” amounts based on updated changes to invoice amounts plus notifications to merchants of these changes
• Accounts Receivable
  • Manage cash collection following completion of invoicing
• Accounts Payable
  • Manage all one-time and recurring bills to be paid, including optimal credit utilization
• Monthly Reporting
  • Produce monthly blended P&L as well as per-client P&Ls to the executive team

Opportunities for Strategic Work:

• Once day-to-day responsibilities are mastered, begin developing scope of work for invoicing automation, including database structure/architecture, collecting API information, and communicating with product/Engineering personnel for tool development

What You’ve Done Prior to Manifest:

• 2+ years of experience in accounting work
• Past experience in B2B, supply chain/logistics, or manufacturing is a major plus
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for all audiences, especially internal stakeholders and merchant decision makers
• Expertise in Microsoft Excel, including building macros and algorithms to process high volumes of data efficiently
• Proficiency in the Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides)
• Prior experience navigating SMB accounting tools like Quickbooks
• Exposure to more robust ERPs/accounting systems (SAP, NetSuite, Datarails, etc.) a plus

Pay & Benefits

• $65,000 - $80,000 per year in On-Target Earnings (OTE) depending on experience
