We are looking for excellent data scientists to join our 20+ strong team. This position focuses on surfacing and measuring relationships between travelers, properties, and destinations. You will work closely with product and engineering teams to improve the traveler search experience by providing recommendations for properties, destinations and other search refinements. The algorithms you develop with directly impact millions of travelers as they plan their dream vacation.

Challenges to work on:

• Establish and determine relationships between travelers, properties, and transactions based on conversational data.
• Leverage data surrounding our HomeAway communications platform to develop exploratory analysis and predictive models.
• Derive insight from high volume, unstructured communications data.

Responsibilities:

• Apply best-in-class machine learning techniques to solve business problems in our communications platform.
• Lead and assist in the data discovery and preparation phase.
• Attend conferences and read papers to stay on top of advancements in the field

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience in data science.
• Experience with natural language processing or unstructured data.
• Practical experience with Python and the PyData stack (pandas, numpy, sklearn, etc).
• Large-scale data processing (Hive, Spark, or related) experience.
• Strong SQL skills.
• Ability and passion to learn new techniques and stay on the cutting edge.
• Good storytelling skills to communicate cross functionally to product, engineering and c-suite.
• Knowing when to apply the right technique in the right place to maximize impact and minimize complexity.
