With more than 35,000 homes in 30 markets, Amherst is one of the largest providers of single-family rental homes across the country. We are looking to hire an experienced Analyst, Analytics & Insight to help us keep growing through real-time, data-driven insights and strategic recommendations. You'll be a part of our fast-growing Developer Operations team dedicated to providing best in class operations to our core product, single family rentals. Our Developer Operations team oversees all operations related to the acquisition, initial repair and initial leasing for our single-family rental properties.

This candidate will take unstructured business problems and build structure with data to drive insights and improve decision making. This role reports to the Sr Manager of Analytics & Insights and will collaborate closely with all business units within Developer and the business intelligence team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Identify business problems and analytics use cases that can be solved leveraging advanced analytics

• Support reporting and data analysis initiatives for the Amherst Developer organization

• Collaborate directly with peers and business leaders in developing descriptive, diagnostic, predictive and prescriptive analytics solutions

• Tackle complex business problems by converting raw data into meaningful and actionable business insights.

• Utilize Microsoft SQL Server for extraction and analysis of data from multiple sources with demonstrated ability to effectively decipher, analyze and report data

• Leverage analytic problem-solving skills in working with large disparate, datasets to design, develop and implement operational reports and metrics

• Present findings and recommendations to business leadership

• Interact with the business intelligence team to prepare and automate recurring /ad-hoc reporting assignments

Required Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Finance, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering or related quantitative discipline

• 1 - 3 years’ experience analyzing data, drawing conclusions and making recommendations; financial services / investment banking industry experience is preferred

• Strong SQL query writing and optimization skills required. Experience working in a Microsoft SQL Server environment is preferred.

• Experience with creating and presenting management dashboards and reports

• Strong Microsoft Excel skills

• Ability to be flexible and work in a fast-paced environment while meeting established timelines

• Excellent written and verbal communication

• Analytical mindset and passion for gleaning actionable insights from raw data

• Strong team player

• Strong communication skills, with an ability to express relevant, technical concepts in a clear and concise manner

• Ability to see the big picture and effectively analyze complex issues

• Strong technical ability, willing to learn and evolve your skills with advances in Technology

• Knowledge of at least one other data analytics programming language such as Python

• Knowledge of data warehousing and ETL concepts is a plus

• Experience with Big Data technologies such as Hadoop and Hive is a plus

• Familiarity with SCRUM or similar agile discipline is a plus

• Knowledge of advanced data science concepts such as machine learning and AI is a plus
