Operations Analyst
Position Description: Customer Success Data Analyst
In order to deliver on our promise, we built banking and payments processing software in-house. We have a rockstar team of people passionate about helping and educating the financially underserved and we are looking for a Data Analyst to join us in our mission. You will be responsible for understanding the needs of our customers and discovering actionable insights to scale our Customer Success team’s ability to provide awesome levels of support. As the team’s first dedicated Data Analyst, you will be empowered to build out foundational dashboards and reporting, establish strong relationships with our Product, Engineering, and Analytics teams, and present your findings to Self’s executive team. You will report directly to the VP of Operations and will get a chance to develop your technical and business skills.
Candidate Description:
You are an expert problem solver and creative thinker, and can see not only all individual details but also the larger picture as a whole. You can understand complex technical projects and translate them into simple business terms for communication with senior management at our business partners and vendors. Likewise, you understand the business and product objectives and can translate them into functional and technical requirements for our developers. You are reliable, hardworking and smart and appreciate working in a fast paced, collaborative environment that rewards ability and empirical results.
Activities and Responsibilities:
- Generate reporting, dashboards, and visualizations to support our Customer Success and Bank Operations teams
- Conduct analysis of trends to derive actionable insights that drive customer satisfaction, efficiency, and customer retention improvements
- Partner with Customer Success team members to understand common customer experiences, our internal workflows and processes, and our internal tooling
- Present findings to our Operations and Engineering leadership teams to drive implementation of front-end product, back-end logic, internal tooling, or manual workflow improvements
- Assist with quarterly and annual budget planning
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- 4 year Bachelor’s degree
- 2+ years of software industry experience (or 2+ years with Masters/PhD)
- Experience with customer-focused operational analysis; understanding of customer service workflows and tools preferred
- Strong experience with databases and SQL
- Strong communication and influencing skills, experience presenting findings to cross-functional stakeholders and leadership teams preferred
- Ability to work in a Unix-based operating system (Linux, MacOS)
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Visio or similar tools
- Comfortable in a fast-moving, startup environment
Recommended Qualifications:
- Professional online operations experience in the tech industry strongly desired
- Understanding of data architecture systems (including data warehousing and data analytics).
- Experience with common software engineering tools such as Git (or other VCS), JIRA, Confluence and similar platforms.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies including Project Management, Change Control, Incident Management, IT Controls/Audits and Software Development Lifecycle.
