The Ascension Data Governance organization is seeking a Data Compliance Specialist to help define and manage the relationship between Data Governance and various Assurance Providers (Compliance, Privacy, Legal). The Ascension Data Governance program is implementing a new operating model and building actionable data governance through newly defined roles, processes and a new data governance platform (Collibra). The Data Compliance Specialist will lead our approach in connecting with Compliance, Privacy and Legal to capture policies, standards, and rules within the data governance system and managing the relationships between these and all other data assets managed in Collibra. Knowledge of Healthcare regulatory/privacy landscape is critical to the success of this role, along with high collaboration and communication skills and process-oriented mindset.
What You Will Do
Key areas of responsibility are:

  • Review data agreements and identify, summarize, communicate and audit the compliance requirements across multiple parts of the business (ministries), capabilities and data domains.
  • Coordinate compliance communications between Regulatory, Governance and risk controls, lead stewards and Ascension's data engineering and operations teams to ensure timely resolution of issues.
  • Build relationships and partner with Ascension's engineering and operations teams, GRC teams and other Regulatory and compliance officers to work through compliance obstacles in a thoughtful and logical way.
  • Assess, analyze and request the necessary data feeds needed to participate in privacy, regulatory and compliance efforts at Ascension
  • Ensure all Ascension data feeds are up to date and accurate; building out a rules matrix that can be used by multiple stakeholders within Ascension to better understand the Compliance landscape.
  • Work directly with the Data Governance team to spread awareness and embed policies, standards, procedures and guidelines into governance functions.
  • Actively utilize the existing Data Governance platforms to manage and promote policies, standards and procedures.
  • Is a Subject Matter Expert for the Ascension Data Delivery and Governance group with respect to policies, standards and regulatory compliance topics.


What You Will Need
Education:

  • High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Bachelor's degree required.


Work Experience:
• 1 year of experience required.• 4 years of experience preferred.• 2 years of leadership or management experience preferred.
Additional Preferences

  • Knowledge of Collibra platform strongly preferred
  • Experience with healthcare regulatory compliance strongly preferred
  • Fundamental knowledge of data architectures (especially in regards to compliance data issues) is preferred
