Overview of the role:

We are looking for a full-time Data & Software Engineer with a passion for solving data problems and scaling platforms for reporting and analytics. In this role, you will be responsible for helping build the next iteration of our data services using Apache Spark, building out API layers that tie data together from multiple products, and diving into solving complex customer data needs.

What you'll do:

  • Collaborate with other team members to design, build, and deploy scalable data applications.
  • Write maintainable, extensible, performance-minded code (Python, NodeJS, and perhaps some Ruby on Rails).
  • Write reliable tests, review others' code, and be an advocate for engineering best practices.
  • Influence our product's direction with your ideas and technical expertise.
  • Support our customers by understanding their needs and improving our platform to meet them.

What you’ll need to be successful:

  • Knowledge of Apache Spark is a must, as are strong SQL skills. We work with both Postgres and Mongo, so familiarity with one - preferably both - is also required.
  • General experience (3-4 years or more) in software engineering/SDLC required, with solid knowledge one or more of Python, NodeJS/Javascript, or Ruby on Rails.
  • A strong desire to innovate, experiment, collaborate and learn High standards for quality and attention to detail.
  • Advocate for modern software engineering practices such as continuous integration, unit testing, and automated deployments In-depth understanding of web app scalability.
  • A proven track record developing production applications.
  • Good written and oral communications skills.
  • DevOps knowledge is a plus.
  • Experience in both creating and consuming GraphQL APIs is also a plus.
