Director of Analytics

Each one of our teams exists to move us closer to our north star -- “to empower the people who power the world.” The Business Operations team at RigUp exists to drives cross-functional excellence by focusing on (1) Strategy & Planning (identifying company-wide objectives), (2) Change & Communication Management (communicating change and drive adoption), (3) Program & Project Management (executing cross-functionally), and (4) Business Intelligence and Analytics (facilitating data-driven decisions). This team focuses on outcome, not output.
RigUp is hiring a Director of Analytics. As a leader of the Analytics team, you have proven people management, analytical, and technical skills in fast-scaling environments. You have a strong bias towards action, enjoy finding patterns amidst chaos, and have demonstrated success in using analytics to drive business impact. You have the technical skills to surface insights quickly and the interpersonal skills to communicate those insights in a way that persuades action. You have strong business judgement, can think creatively about new opportunities, and are thoughtful about where and when data will drive the highest impact. You focus on outcome, not output and are driven by the need to democratize access to clean data.
What you'll be doing
- Build team of high performing analysts
- Develop analytical frameworks, roadmaps, and metrics for all RigUp functions
- Build out standard reports to track business health
- Prioritize analytics projects and ad-hoc requests for team of analysts
- Build a cohesive picture of business performance and progress towards goals
- Provide guidance on operational, product, and business decisions based on the results of analysis (eg. expansion into specific product domains or M&A opportunities)
- Engage with leadership and work cross-functionally to drive visible strategic projects (structure problems, analyze opportunities, and develop solutions and actionable recommendations)
- Partner with technical data teams to understand a growing range of RigUp’s data resources
What you should have
- High level of comfort with ambiguity & a get-it-done mindset. Humble & scrappy.
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field like statistics, finance/economics, applied math, operations research or engineering. MBA a plus.
- 8+ years of analytics / data science experience or equivalent; 4+ years of experience managing and scaling high growth analytics / data science teams
- Ability to manage a number of leadership stakeholders with competing demands
- Ability to manage and prioritize competing projects and deliverables
- Excellent SQL, Tableau (or other modern Business Intelligence solutions), and quantitative skills a must.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts and analytics-driven findings to business audiences, and to explain business processes, concepts, challenges, and issues to technical resources
- Ability to work in a dynamic, challenging environment where decisions you make will have a large impact
- Strategic problem solver who simplifies problems to their core elements and finds creative solutions
