We are seeking a leader to join our data function in building out our best in class data platforms at Care.com. The ideal candidate has a technology background and a passion for quality decision making. They understand that a strong data platform is the foundation of a company culture of data-driven decision making. We’d love to talk to you if you have a background leading data team members in data architecture, data governance, master data management, data engineering, and data warehousing. This role requires hands-on leadership and close partnership with our application and product teams. Our data tech stack includes Snowflake, Kafka streams, S3, Splunk, and Tableau.

What Your Days Will be Like:

The Director of Data will manage technical team members and work across and with application teams to establish and implement a strategy of ingesting sources of truth (from a domain driven microservices architecture) into our Snowflake platform where it will be used to drive decision making across the company. You will work closely with other data leaders to enable data trust and data stability in our rapidly changing, high-growth company.

The ideal candidate has a passion for leading data teams at a top tier company. S/he will demonstrate strong business judgment and be able to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

What You'll Be Working On: 

• Manage Data Architects and Data Engineers working on cross functional projects across the company
• Enable single definition of truth in collaboration with application leaders by establishing data governance practices
• Evaluate and recommend tools and technologies to ensure the highest quality platform and content
• Partner with analytics and data warehouse leaders to ensure data is both stable and actionable
• Partner with data warehouse team members in conducting a data migration to the new tech stack
• Participate in and lead design reviews
• Identify data sources and maintain data architecture diagrams
• Create and maintain data roadmaps
• Ensure team is incorporating best practices for security, performance, and data privacy into deliverables

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

• 10+ years leading prior work experience leading the design and deployment of data solutions
• Hands on approach and management style
• 5+ years technical experience in a data role
• Experience establishing data management, data governance
• Familiarity with microservices architecture
• Analytical and conceptual abilities and a problem solving attitude
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with team members at different level of the organization
• Demonstrated ability to maintain performance level in a fast-paced agile environment with changing priorities and deadlines
• Pragmatic and realistic with solutions
• Snowflake experience is a plus
• Kafka experience is a plus
• Experience at a high-growth start-up is a plus
