Position Overview:
The Enterprise Architect - eCommerce is accountable to design new and existing eCommerce technology architecture solutions across the company to support the overall future business and technology strategy. They shape the technology investment planning and participate in building department and enterprise level architecture roadmap.
They work across all departments, with the executive leadership, PMO and technology teams, business stakeholders, implementation partners and application vendors to shape eCommerce solution architecture. They take on leadership role to select, design, re-design, implement software solutions ensuring they meet existing and future business requirements.
Primary duties of this position will include:
Architecture
• Domain expertise in the retail sector and experience in delivering enterprise scale eCommerce platforms
• Create solutions and build out technical requirements for system integrations between the ecommerce platform and other third party integrations
• End-to-end architectural experience from front-office consumer facing applications through to back-office inter-system applications and administrative applications and how they all integrate
• Experience of high scale and resilient architectures
• Detailed understanding of the security aspects of a web-based applications
• Proven experience as leader and systems architect to design and deliver complex omnichannel, enterprise-level software solutions using best practices and methodologies
• Experience implementing omni-channel features and how to pass customer data between Salesforce and OMS and other systems.
• Troubleshoot, debug application(s) and/or IT infrastructure component(s) and recommend enhancements for stable operations.
• Having a “customer first” mentality that understands change and how it impacts the business both in positive and negative ways
• Review and analyze the efficiency of existing application portfolio, architecture and processes
• Develop strategies for short term improvements and multi-year delivery plans in order to increase sustainability and prepare for future expansion
• Provide gap, risk, and impact analysis, and mitigation strategies
• Build architecture diagrams and create business architecture models
• Collaborate with executive leadership on technology investment strategy to meet business goals; establish baselines and benchmarks to measure against
• Identify reusable solution components
• Facilitate and conduct proof-of-concept activities
• Provide specifications and measures according to which the solution is defined, managed, and delivered
PMO Support
• Support the PMO team with the project intake and prioritization process
• Assess scope of multiple initiatives to understand and determine how they fit into the overall architecture and business priorities
• Aid the estimation and planning with technical LOE definition and capacity planning
• Define the end-to-end architecture and ensures the detailed design and development remains consistent with the overall architecture of the project
• Provide input on technical dependencies and scalability
• Consult and provide recommendations during the design phase
• Take leadership role during solution delivery as needed
Operational support
• Support the development of efficient monitoring
• Support ARB and CAB reviews by effective assessments for various change initiatives
• Collaborate with the technology teams on architectural topics (best practices, solutions, new technologies, reusable components, etc.)
• Develop and lead performance management and efficient capacity planning
• Identify opportunities and help develop enterprise-wide best standards
• Support disaster recovery planning and mitigation efforts
• Provide ongoing training, mentoring and technical guidance to the technology team
Qualifications and Skills
• 5+ years in omnichannel retail industry / eCommerce (preferably with Salesforce Commerce Cloud or other industry-leading ecommerce platforms)
• 7+ years of enterprise architecture experience
• 5+ years in enterprise portfolio planning and project management
• 10+ years of IT experience related to application management, business and system analysis and design
• Experience with OMS and WMS systems
• Strong professional experience in Salesforce functionality and configuration capabilities and have or be willing to obtain Salesforce Commerce Cloud Digital Certification
• A proven ability to break down larger initiatives into consumable achievable tasks to achieve departmental and company objectives
• Skilled in methods to define business values, connect technology with measurable deliverables and shape solutions on budget, on time
• Strong negotiator and facilitator
• Excellent communicator; Able to effectively influence and present complex solutions to technical and non-technical audience at all levels of the organization.
• Excellent collaboration skills, effective at building consensus across the various departments
• Thorough understanding of various SDLC methods (Waterfall, Agile, etc.)
• Skilled coach, mentor and influencer
• Can easily adapt to fast paced, constantly changing environment
